Turkish Airlines groups connect in Istanbul; Egyptair groups in Cairo. Every group lands in Madinah, travels to Makkah by coach, and flies home from Jeddah.

The rites

Umrah in six steps

A plain outline of what every pilgrim does. Details of dua, dress and etiquette are taught by the scholar travelling with your group.

Ihram
Before the miqat
Bathe, put on the two white garments (men) or ordinary modest dress (women), make the intention for Umrah and recite the Talbiyah. Groups flying into Madinah enter ihram at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) on the way to Makkah.
Talbiyah
On the road to Makkah
Labbayk Allahumma labbayk — repeated on the coach until you reach the Haram.
Tawaf
Masjid al-Haram
Seven circuits of the Kaaba, anticlockwise, beginning and ending at the Black Stone line. Two rak'ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim, then Zamzam.
Sa'i
Between Safa and Marwah
Seven lengths between the two hills inside the mosque, starting at Safa and finishing at Marwah.
Halq or Taqsir
Makkah
Men shave or shorten the hair; women cut a fingertip's length. Umrah is complete and ihram ends.
Ziyarat
Makkah and Madinah
Where the package includes it: the historic sites of both cities with the group and its scholar.
